When to review accessibility

When some customers struggle to use your store

Some barriers only appear when shopping without a mouse, zooming text or using a screen reader. I’ll test the agreed buying journey and show exactly where it breaks down.

01

Customers cannot shop without a mouse

Filters, product options or the buy button cannot be reached by keyboard, or an open dialog is difficult to close.

02

Important information is inaccessible

A screen reader cannot identify what buttons do or where an error occurred, and zoomed content is cut off.

03

Forms do not help customers fix errors

Invalid fields are identified only by colour or do not explain what to enter, leaving the customer unable to continue.

Exactly what you get

A list of accessibility barriers and a remediation plan

I’ll show where each issue occurs, explain its impact and map it to the relevant WCAG criterion, with clear priorities for remediation.

  • Agreed buying-journey reviewI’ll test the agreed category, product, cart and checkout pages, including the interactions between them.
  • Automated testingTools will identify detectable contrast, form label, accessible-name and other technical issues.
  • Keyboard testingI’ll test menus, filters, product options, forms and dialogs without using a mouse.
  • Screen-reader testingI’ll assess reading order, headings, control names and announcements for changing content.
  • Forms and content zoomI’ll check field instructions, error messages and whether buying actions remain accessible when content is enlarged.
  • Remediation planYou’ll receive issue descriptions, relevant WCAG criteria and prioritised recommendations. If I implement the fixes, I’ll retest the corrected areas.

Frequently asked questions

Before booking an accessibility audit

How much will an accessibility audit cost?

I’ll provide a price after assessing the different page templates and buying scenarios. Implementation is quoted separately.

Which pages will you test?

We’ll agree the scope before starting. I usually test category, product, cart and checkout pages and the interactions between them. Search, account areas and other features can be added.

Is the audit based on WCAG 2.2 AA?

Yes. I’ll map issues found within the agreed scope to the relevant WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA criteria. The report will list the pages and scenarios tested.

Is this only an automated test?

No. Automated checks are combined with manual keyboard and screen-reader testing, plus form and zoom testing.

Can you implement the fixes?

Yes, where your platform and available access allow it. I’ll confirm feasibility and price before starting, and retest the agreed fixes after implementation.

What will you need, and how long will the audit take?

I’ll need your store URL and information about the key buying journeys. If logged-in areas need testing, we’ll arrange test access. I’ll confirm timing for the agreed scope.

Does the audit guarantee legal compliance?

The audit identifies accessibility issues within the agreed scope and recommends fixes. It is not legal advice or a guarantee that the whole store complies with every requirement.

Find out what makes your store difficult to use

Send your store URL and tell me whether you need an audit only or implementation as well. I’ll propose the scope, price and timing.
